George M. Henry

George M. Henry, 84, of New Ulm, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

George was born August 27, 1941, to Willis and Bennie (Brown) Henry of Mont Belvieu. Graduating from Barbers Hill High School, he went on to Lamar University joining the Sigma Chi Epsilon Fraternity, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering, and meeting the love of his life, Susan. He went to work for Gulf Oil Co Refinery and Chevron in Port Arthur, retiring after 30 years of service before going into consultant work with EQE working all over the world.

In 1998, after raising their family in Winnie, George and Susan moved to New Ulm and established Rancho GyS. Throughout his life, George shared a great love for ranching and animals. He was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Association, serving on rodeo committees for many years. As an accomplished horseman, he won many accolades in the Peruvian Paso community. In addition to horses, Rancho GyS was home to cattle, llamas, alpacas, and a great variety of animals. He had a lifelong love for dogs and was seldom without his loyal canine companions.

George was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his much-loved wife of 62 years, Susan M. (Marsh) Henry; his children, Holly Haby and husband Bruce, Heath Henry and wife Rebecca, and Hoyt Henry and wife Alyson; grandchildren, Barrett Haby, Brenner Haby, and Haven Henry; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Dayton. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Linney Cemetery in Dayton.
