On April 5, 1958, Kathy Loraine Hadnot was born to A.T. and Lillie Pearl Davis Hadnot in Cleveland, Texas. She confessed in Christ at an early age and was baptized in 1966, at the age of 8. Kathy was then united with the Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Frank Jones.
Kathy was very active in church, serving in Sunday school, mission, and her passion, singing in the church choir. She had a beautiful voice, and she did not mind singing for Jesus. She sang with conviction, power, and most of all, she sang with the spirit.
Kathy’s education began with Federick Douglas Elementary, Cleveland Jr. High, and Cleveland High School. She was a graduate of the class of 1976. Although Kathy never had children, she loved working in daycare, being a substitute teacher, and a teacher’s aide at Southside Primary School.
Kathy also had church affiliations with N. Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Otis Cruse, and Greater Galilee Praise and Worship Center under the leadership of Reverend J.B. Himes, and currently with Olive Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Gregg Bellard. In November of 2005, she married Luther Fisher. No children were born to this union, but Kathy was “Mom” to many of her nephews and nieces, who loved her dearly.
Kathy left us Friday, May 29, 2026, patting her foot and clapping her hands, making her way to sing in the heavenly choir. No doubt she will be singing her favorite song, “The Lord Sure Has Been Good”. To God be the glory!
Kathy leaves to cherish her memory a loving husband, Luther; and her three devoted and loyal sisters, June Hadnot, Jean Hadnot-Rushing (Albert), and Vernilla Foster. There are too many to list, but we acknowledge her many sisters and brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many treasured friends also left behind to cherish Kathy’s memory.
A visitation for Kathy will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 10 to 11:45 a.m., with a Celebration of Life to follow at 12 p.m., both located at Neal Funeral Home 200 S.
