Terry Lee Thorne

Terry Lee Thorne, a devoted, loving man, and proud retired security officer, passed away on June 6, 2026, in New Caney, Texas. Born on Aug. 27, 1963, in Alexandria, Virginia, Terry lived a life marked by steadfast dedication to his work, his faith, and his family.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Terry was an active and beloved member of Caney Creek Apostolic Tabernacle in New Caney, Texas, where his faith and warm spirit touched many lives and he also provided security as a “Watchman on the Wall”. “You belong here” and “Welcome home” are words etched on the hearts of many because of Terry. He played one of the most important roles in making others feel welcomed. It was a role he served exceptionally well. His warmth left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be missed immensely.

A man of varied interests, Terry found joy in the world of amateur radio, operating as a Ham Radio operator under the call sign KG5SRA. This hobby reflected his patient and engaging nature, always eager to connect with others and learn anew. He was also fond of simple pleasures, that included going to Whataburger, a small but cherished pastime that brought him happiness.

Those who knew Terry remember him as a loving individual whose presence brought comfort and loyalty. His life was enriched by the love of his sister, Sherri Castle; and his aunt, Joyce Ripperger. He was also a loyal friend to the very end to Sheriff Sam Houston. Their lives—and the lives of many others—were made better by his kindness and steadfast character.

Terry’s parents, Douglas Junior Thorne and Nancy Carol Booth Thorne, preceded him in death, leaving behind a legacy carried on by their son’s honor and memory.

The community will gather to celebrate Terry Lee Thorne’s life at Caney Creek Apostolic Church located at 16613 Farm to Market 1485, Conroe, Texas 77306. Visitation will take place on June 13, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m..

Terry Lee Thorne’s life was one of service—to his family, his community, and his faith—and he leaves behind a lasting example of dedication and love. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
