A Liberty County pastor was arrested Monday, June 29, after being charged with three felony offenses, including continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.
George Finney, 52, pastor of New Life Church in Kenefick, was arrested at his home in Dayton by deputies with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Billy Knox, Finney was taken into custody without incident following an investigation that began after what Knox described as a public outcry.
Finney has been charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14 Years of Age, Indecency With a Child by Exposure and Assault Causing Bodily Injury/Family Violence.
Court records show bond was set at $50,000 on each charge, for a total of $150,000.
As of publication, details surrounding the allegations, including the circumstances of the investigation and the ages of the alleged victim or victims, had not been released by investigators.
Bluebonnet News attempted to contact Finney by telephone for comment but had not received a response prior to publication. No other information is available at this time.
