A Liberty County law enforcement officer with more than three decades of experience in narcotics enforcement has received a prestigious statewide award recognizing his commitment to combating illegal drugs and protecting communities.
Capt. Robert Croft of the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office was presented the Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Award during the Texas Elks State Association conference held June 6 in Mesquite. The annual award recognizes outstanding law enforcement officers who have made significant contributions to narcotics enforcement, drug prevention and education.
Croft was selected from among nominees representing law enforcement agencies across Texas.
According to Precinct 4 Constable Robby Thornton Jr., Croft has spent 36 years in law enforcement, with most of his career dedicated to narcotics enforcement. He has served with the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office since 2013, where he oversees the department’s narcotics operations.
The Enrique “Kiki” Camarena Award honors the memory of DEA Special Agent Enrique Camarena, who was killed in the line of duty in 1985 by members of a Mexican drug cartel. The award is presented annually to law enforcement officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to drug prevention, education and narcotics enforcement.
Thornton said he is proud that Croft was nominated for and received the award, adding that Croft continues to oversee the department’s narcotics investigations and remains a valuable asset to both the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and the citizens of Liberty County.
