Hull-Daisetta Golden Oldies prepare for annual homecoming celebration

The Hull-Daisetta Golden Oldies are inviting former students, faculty and friends to return to Bobcat country this fall for the organization’s annual Homecoming celebration, a day dedicated to reconnecting with classmates, honoring traditions and supporting future generations of Hull-Daisetta graduates.

This year’s Hull-Daisetta Golden Oldies Homecoming luncheon will be held Friday, Sept. 4, at the new Community Building in Daisetta, marking the first event ever scheduled in the facility.

A highlight of this year’s celebration will be the official induction of the Class of 1976 into the Golden Oldies. Each year, graduates celebrating the 50th anniversary of their graduation are welcomed into the organization, making the Class of 1976 the newest members to join the longtime Bobcat tradition.

Activities begin with a brunch served from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the annual meeting at noon. Refreshments and visitation will continue at 1 p.m., giving classmates and friends extra time to reconnect.

The day concludes later in the evening at Bobcat Stadium, where members of the Class of 1976 will be recognized during a pregame introduction at 6:50 p.m. before Hull-Daisetta’s 7 p.m. homecoming football game against Acadiana Christian Louise.

Golden Oldies President Charles Kaemmerling said the annual gathering is about more than reminiscing.

“Since our last gathering, the Golden Oldies awarded five $3,000 scholarships to Hull-Daisetta graduates — four headed to college and one pursuing trade school,” Kaemmerling said. “Your continued support makes this possible, and we are grateful.”

Organizers will also pause during the program for the traditional Roll Call of the Missing, honoring classmates and friends who have passed away.

This year’s brunch, prepared by Debbie Murray, will feature French toast casserole, hash brown and sausage casserole, quiche, yogurt parfaits with fruit and granola, seasonal fruit, coffee, tea, water, apple juice and cranberry juice.

The cost is $20 per person and includes brunch and refreshments.

Reservations are due by Friday, Aug. 28. Checks should be made payable to “The HD Golden Oldies” and mailed to Hull-Daisetta Golden Oldies, P.O. Box 576, Daisetta, Texas, 77533.
