Betty Joyce Stemberger

Betty Joyce Stemberger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Aug. 17, 2026, in Shepherd, Texas. She was born on Oct. 13, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to William Barron and Early Mae Irwin Barron.

From her earliest days, Betty embodied a gentle spirit and steadfast dedication to her family. She grew up with strong values, shaped deeply by the warmth and love of her parents, both of whom preceded her in death. Betty’s commitment to her loved ones was unwavering, and she modeled compassion and selflessness throughout her life. Betty’s life was marked by her enduring partnership of 75 years with her husband, Valentine Stemberger. Together, they shared a special bond—standing side by side for many years and providing a loving home for their family. She is survived by Valentine, who carries with him the memory of their long and treasured journey together. Betty leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her family. 

She is also survived by her son, Val Stemberger, and daughter-in-law, Charlotte; her daughter, Barbara Willner, and son-in-law, Paul. Her grandchildren, Len Stemberger, and Crystal, Zachery Willner, and Heather, were blessed by her presence in their lives, cherishing the kindness and guidance she so thoughtfully offered. Betty’s love extended to her great-grandchildren, Cadence Stemberger and Benjamin Willner, who brought her great joy.

In addition to her deep devotion to her family, Betty was known for her culinary skills and her warm, welcoming home. She was an exceptional cook, delighting loved ones with her recipes and hospitality. Reading brought her solace and pleasure, and she often found relaxation in crocheting—a pastime that brought comfort to her and warmth to those who received her handiwork. Through every meal prepared, every story read, and every handmade creation, Betty exemplified what it truly meant to be a homemaker.Her loving and caring nature touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Friends and family alike will remember her for her ability to make a house a home, her attentive presence, and her unwavering support throughout the years.

A visitation will be held on Aug. 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Neal Funeral Home, located at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, TX 77327. A funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.

Betty Joyce Stemberger’s life was a testament to steadfast love, quiet strength, and genuine kindness. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved and cared for, today and always.
