Marie Lewis, 78, of Hankamer, Texas, passed away Aug. 11, 2026.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026, at St. Mary’s Baptist Church, 213 Albritton Gully Road, Hankamer, Texas. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Whittington Cemetery in Hankamer, Texas.
Marie Hill-Lewis was born on June 10, 1948, in Hankamer, Texas, to Curtis Lewis and Iris Toran. She was the second of three children born to this union.
She was educated in the Anahuac Independent School District. She accepted Christ at an early age. She went on to marry Jimmy Lewis, and to that union, two children were born. She was a well-loved member of her church and community. She was always willing and eager to help in any way, even after her health began to fail. She went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 11, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Lewis and Iris Toran; husband, Jimmy Lewis; daughter, Barbra Lynn Hill; and sisters, Ella Scott and Eula Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Shirlene Hill; five grandchildren, Tristan Hill, Corenthos Hill, Desmond Patrick, Desmyus Patrick and De’Liyah Patrick; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
