Henry “Oscar” Carley

Henry “Oscar” Carley, 66, of Wallisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026, at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

Oscar was born July 25, 1960, in Houston, Texas, to Aron Cleburn Carley and Naomi Ruth Hogan Carley. Before his retirement, he worked at Exxon for 36 years. During his tenure, he wore many hats, such as a machinist and planner, before becoming a farmer. Oscar and his family resided in Cove for 40 years before moving to Wallisville 4 years ago to realize a dream of having his loving family in one place.

He will be remembered for his work ethic and service to his community. For many years, Oscar followed his calling from God to serve at Mercy Gate Church on the security team and as a CASA volunteer, advocating for boys who needed support and guidance. He was an inspiration to young men and women, never being afraid to teach teenagers how to work on the farm. Oscar believed deeply in God, and lived it, he was never ashamed of his relationship with God, fully trusting the Lord with His plan for him. Although he served in many churches throughout his life, he found a home with the Cornerstone Church of Anahuac. He had a heart of gold that made a lasting difference in the lives of his family, friends, and anyone who knew him. Oscar never met a stranger; his hearty laugh filled any room he was in, whether he was with loved ones or people he had never met before.

Oscar was a man of many talents and skills. His sons will remember him as someone who could fix anything, whether it was mechanical or electronic. Skills that came in handy when he started a hay farm. Nearly every day, you could find him somewhere at the farm, on his John Deere tractor, whether it was baling hay or making other improvements. Despite the busy schedule, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons and grandchildren. Another one of his passions was dancing with his wife, even building them a dance floor so that they could dance more often. Above all, Oscar loved his family, particularly the love of his life, Vicky.
