Darrel James Roy, 70, of Hankamer, passed away Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at his residence.
Darrel was born July 26, 1956, in Lafayette, La.,, and raised in Rayne, La. He had been a resident of the Hankamer area since 2005. Darrell was a derrick man in the oilfield industry in his early years but he was also a master mechanic and a jack of all trades who could build or fix just about anything. He was a follower of Christ and attended Community Christian Fellowship in Oak Island, Texas.
He loved fishing and hunting, he also enjoyed dancing and joking which he did until the end.
Mr. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; father Wilton Roy, his mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Louis Pryor; brothers, Joseph Davis Roy and Randal Lee Pryor; brother-in-law, Burt Comeaux; sister-in-law, Norma Roy; brothers-in-law, Orien Butaud, Walter Twofeathers, and Ovide Butaud; sister-in-law, Lois Prejean; and MaryAnn Butaud, Shirleen Fitzgerald, and Roxanne Scott.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite Butaud Roy; daughter, Crystal Dawn Hebert and husband, Allen; sons, Jamie Darane Granger and wife, Jessica, and Jeremy Thomas Fitzgerald and wife, Aleea; and daughter, Cassandra Collins; sisters, Cynthia Bourque and husband, Bobby, Terry Comeaux, Paula Landry and husband, Chad; and Gemmalyn Pryor, brothers, Ray Roy and wife, Rena, Patrick Roy, and Ira Pryor and wife, Lisa.
Darrell is also survived by his grandchildren, Donald Gentry and wife Kennah, Ross Benoit, Andrea Cain, Jamie Granger Jr., Jayda Granger, Huntson Hebert, Alayna Hebert, Alyson Hebert, Adrienne Benoit and husband Zachary, and Alexa Hebert, Aliani Fitzgerald, Stetson Fitzgerald, Acadiana Fitzgerald, and great-grandchildren, Luke and Addie Gentry, Liam Chavez, Leland, Grayson, Evelyn, Jane, Henry, Peter Benoit, and Baily Breaux; numerous other relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be held at Community Christian Fellowship Church, 442 Eagle Road, Anahuac, 77514, at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026.
