A 39-year-old Cleveland man was killed Sunday evening after falling from a tree he was cutting along Plum Grove Road.
The accident happened around 6:42 p.m. Sept. 27 in the 700 block of Plum Grove Road. According to the Cleveland Police Department, James Albert Brandon was cutting down a tree when he fell approximately 50 feet to the ground. The tree then fell on top of him.
People at the scene and first responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Brandon died from his injuries. Justice of the Peace Ralph Fuller responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.
Large limbs from the tree also struck a nearby power line, causing a widespread power outage that affected Cleveland residents and businesses for approximately four to five hours.
Police said close friends and a family member witnessed the accident.
Brandon’s family has been notified. The Cleveland Police Department extended its prayers and condolences to his family and loved ones.
