Danny Lee Russell

Danny Lee Russell was born on July 18, 1962, in Millington, Tennessee, to Leonard Eugene Russell and Jane Ellen Reid Russell Horn. On Oct. 6, 2026, he peacefully entered Heaven’s gates, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories, laughter, love, and a legacy that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A proud American patriot, Danny honorably served his country in the United States Army. He later served as a founding member and First Sergent of the Texas State Militia. His dedication to his country reflected the courage, strength, loyalty, and unwavering values that defined the man he was.

Danny graduated from Texas Aero Tech in 1993 and turned his passion for aviation into a long career as an aircraft mechanic with United Airlines dedicating many years of hard work before retiring.

Danny was a man with an outgoing personality, a beautiful soul, and a heart of gold. Although he may not have considered himself the most spiritual man, he had a remarkable way of knowing exactly what to say or do when someone needed him most. His wisdom, compassion, and actions often reflected the very teachings of the Bible, whether he realized it or not. His wife always said his nuggets of truth and wisdom came from above.

To know Danny was to love him. He was a jokester at heart, an outdoorsman, a gun enthusiast, a coffee addict, and an unapologetic patriotic man who loved his country. He had an unforgettable sense of humor and a special gift for making people laugh, even during life’s most difficult moments. Whether he was sharing a joke, telling a story, or simply enjoying a cup of coffee, Danny had a way of making the ordinary moments unforgettable.

Above all else, Danny loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and great-grandfather-to-be, a beloved brother and uncle, a loyal friend, and a faithful member of his church family and served on the security team. He was a protector, a provider, a source of strength – the kind of man his family knew they could always count on.

Though his family must now navigate a world without his physical presence, they take comfort in knowing that his love will never leave them. Danny was, and forever will be, his family’s guardian angel, watching over those he loved so dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Lynne Russell; his mother, Jane Horn; his children, Sandra Branham and husband Mike, Dillon Lee Russell and fiancée Brianna Foreman, and Alyssa Russell and husband Matthew Court Jr.; his grandchildren, Levi, Lilly, Zane, Landon and fiancée Fallon, Jackson, Harlee, Heidi, Liam, Teagan, and Willow; his eagerly awaited great-grandchild, Rowan; and his sisters, Dana Givens and Debra Fries. Danny was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Eugene Russell who was also a US Veteran.

Danny’s memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched throughout his 64 years. His laughter may have fallen silent, but the joy he brought into this world will echo for generations. His hands may now rest, but the love, protection, and strength they provided will never be forgotten.

A soldier, a patriot, a husband, a father, a grandfather, a hero, and a friend. Danny Lee Russell was truly one of a kind. Rest peacefully, Danny. Your work here on Earth is done. You ran your race well, and although our hearts are broken, we know Heaven has gained an extraordinary soul. You were deeply loved, you will be forever missed, and your legacy will live on through every life you touched. Until we meet again.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026, at 3 p.m. at HighPoint Fellowship Church in Splendora, Texas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
