Anahuac’s Maci Duff crowned Miss TVE Fair queen

Maci Duff of Anahuac is the new Miss TVE Fair Queen. She was crowned on Oct. 10.

Maci Duff of Anahuac was crowned Miss Trinity Valley Exposition Fair Queen on Saturday evening, Oct. 10, earning the honor of representing the Trinity Valley Exposition throughout the coming year.

A student at Anahuac High School, Duff is the daughter of KC Duff and Bradley Roussel. She has been active in a variety of school and community organizations, including FFA, HOSA and Student Council, demonstrating an interest in leadership, service and agriculture.

Her involvement in FFA has allowed her to explore her agricultural interests, particularly floral design, which she lists among her favorite activities. She also enjoys opportunities to participate in school organizations and community events.

Six young women competed for the Miss TVE Fair Queen title on Saturday, Oct. 10. Pictured left to right are Avery Smart, winner of the public speaking competition; Hayden Fisher, first runner-up; Baylee Jo Sutton; Raelynn Fregia, Miss Photogenic; Shelbie Fairchild; and Maci Duff, who was crowned Miss TVE Fair Queen and will represent the Trinity Valley Exposition for the coming year.

While agriculture is an important part of her high school experience, Duff has set her sights on a career in health care. She plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing and hopes to eventually work as a pediatric oncology nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital or MD Anderson Cancer Center, caring for children battling cancer.

As the newly crowned Miss TVE Fair Queen, Duff will spend the next year representing the exposition at community events and activities, serving as an ambassador for an organization that has long celebrated the agricultural traditions and young people of Liberty and Chambers counties.

Duff earned the title from a field of six contestants, with Hayden Fisher of Hardin selected as first runner-up. Other awards went to Avery Smart of Liberty, who won the public speaking competition, and Raelynn Fregia of Liberty, who was named Miss Photogenic.

First runner-up Hayden Fisher, the daughter of Kerry and Eric Fisher, attends Hardin High School, where she participates in FFA, National Honor Society, BPA, Student Council and 4-H. She also serves on the Stingarettes drill team and has been a TVE ambassador for the past two years. Fisher hopes to become an agricultural teacher.

Public speaking winner Avery Smart, the daughter of Kyle and Lindsey Smart, attends Liberty High School. She is active in showing livestock, serves as an officer in Hardin 4-H and participates in the Prancers drill team and Business Professionals of America. Smart plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in applied science with a minor related to her career goals.

Miss Photogenic winner Raelynn Fregia, the daughter of Randy and Renae Fregia, attends Liberty High School, where she takes AP and honors courses. She participates in FFA, softball, cross-country and other activities. Fregia hopes to attend college, earn a law degree and become an attorney.

Also competing for the Miss TVE Fair Queen title was Baylee Jo Sutton, the daughter of Stephanie and Chris Wallace. A student at Hardin High School, Sutton participates in volleyball, softball, cheerleading, golf and FFA. She hopes to pursue a career that allows her to make a positive difference in her community.

Shelbie Fairchild, the daughter of Bobbie and Lester Fairchild, attends Dayton High School. She is active in cheerleading, National Honor Society, Student Council and FFA, among other organizations. She also participates in TVE breeding beef activities. Fairchild hopes to pursue a career as a chiropractor specializing in both people and animals, while also owning a cattle farm.

The Miss TVE Fair Queen competition recognizes young women for their involvement in school, community activities and leadership, while selecting a representative to serve as an ambassador for the Trinity Valley Exposition.
