Gary LeRoy Busby

Gary LeRoy Busby, of Dayton, Texas, entered into rest on Nov. 3, 2026, at the age of 79. He was born on April 10, 1947, in Winfield, Kansas. Gary will be remembered as a man of faith, wisdom, and steady presence whose life touched his family and all who knew him.

Gary loved the Lord, and his faith was an important part of his life. He loved studying his Bible and having theological discussions, and he held close the words of Isaiah 41:10 and Numbers 6:24-26. He was a wonderful listener who gave great advice, offering care and understanding in a way that brought comfort to others.

He enjoyed a wide range of music, from Pavarotti to old country and western favorites such as George Jones, from 1970s rock like Pink Floyd to beloved gospel hymns including “How Great Thou Art.” Gary could repair anything and loved to tinker, a gift that reflected both his skill and his patience. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman, finding joy in the simple and lasting pleasures of nature.

Gary is survived by his wife of 31 years, Edit Mireya Noguera. He also leaves behind a loving family who will continue to cherish his memory: his daughter Kimberly LaFleur and her husband Michael; his sons Miles “Mike” Leslie Busby and his wife Christina, and Gary Wayne Busby; his step children Robert Antonio Reyes, Marledy Reyes and Yamilet Reyes; and his sister Sharon Fairchild and husband Ray, and youngest sister Rita Jenkins. He was also deeply loved by his grandchildren, Heather, Amanda, Jacqueline, Jacob, Miles, and Abigail, and by his great-grandchildren, Madeline, Emilia, Zane, Evelyn, Jocelyn, Allison, Samuel, and Shooter. Their lives stand as part of the lasting legacy of love and family that meant so much to him. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Busby; his mother, Jean Starling; and his sister, Gail Thomas.

As his family and friends mourn his passing, they also give thanks for his life, his faith, his counsel, and the many memories he leaves behind.

A graveside service in honor of Gary’s legacy will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079.
