Angela Allen will be the new interim police chief for Cleveland ISD, effective June 3.
In an emailed statement Wednesday, Cleveland ISD spokesperson Susan Ard said, “Cleveland Independent School District is pleased to announce that Sergeant Detective Angela Allen has been named Interim Chief of Police for the Cleveland ISD Police Department, until the position is permanently filled. We are confident that Sergeant Detective Allen will continue to maintain the safety and security of our students, staff and district.”
Allen replaces outgoing chief, Rex Evans, whose resignation was announced in late May. Evans will be the new Splendora ISD police chief.
On the Cleveland ISD PD Facebook page, Evans shared his thoughts about Allen being named his successor.
He wrote, “Chief Allen has numerous years of law enforcement experience. She has worked some of the most critical and serious cases this school district has ever seen. And, in the course of conducting those trying and extremely difficult cases, she did a stellar job. Never wavering from her primary focus and duty, our kids.
“She and her family have lived and worked in Cleveland for many years. In fact, she and her Husband, Danny are originally from Cleveland! Very good people and a truly great family. Congratulations to Interim Chief of Police Angie Allen!”
