Houston man arrested for alleged DWI with child in vehicle by Splendora PD

A man allegedly driving drunk with a child passenger in his vehicle was arrested by Splendora Police Department around 1 a.m. Sunday, June 17, on US 59 North in Splendora.

The white Honda SUV was reportedly traveling at 45 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone.

“Upon making contact with the driver, Oscar Mejia, 47, displayed signs of intoxication. Mejia had two young children in the car, ages 8 and 10. Upon further investigation, Mejia was placed under arrest for Felony Driving While Intoxicated With a Child,” a statement from Splendora PD reads.

Mejia is listed in the Montgomery County Jail as a resident of Houston. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.
