Johnny Maurice Downs Sr.

Johnny Maurice Downs Sr, 82, of Daisetta, died Monday, July 9, 2018, at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center. He was born June 21, 1936, in Batson to James and Maude Downs and had lived in Daisetta most of his life.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; his wives, Dorothy “Tookie” Downs, and Barbara Downs; daughter, Rhonda Luce; and sisters, Dorothy Knight, Jo Marshall, Eloise Roberts, and Delores Nugent.

Those left to cherish his memory are; son, Johnny Maurice Downs Jr. and wife Stacey of Dayton. daughters, Susan Diane Bell and husband James of Houston, and Jo Ellen Guidry of Daisetta. Stepsons, Corey Ford and wife Crystal of Hull, Eugene Ford of Cross Plains, TX, and Brian Ford and wife Jennifer of Daisetta. Sister Jimmie Sue Westbrook of Liberty. grandchildren, Chad Downs, Crystal Luce, Amanda Trahan, Dylan Luce, Joe Allen Guidry, Angel Joiner, Hunter Bell, Brandon Downs, Caleb Downs, Makenzi Torres, Lisa Watts, Andy Wilcox, Hailey Wilcox, Alley Wilcox, Brandon Harris, Cody Ford, Macy Adams, Haylee Ford, Slayd Ford, Seely Ford, Dakota Ford, Brittany Ford and Steven Ford; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and a host of loving friends.

A service of remembrance will be held Friday, July 13, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Faith & Family Funeral Services, Inc with Reverend Tyra Rich and Harvey Drake officiating. Interment will follow at Guedry Cemetery. A gathering of Johnny’s family and friends will be Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. also at Faith & Family Funeral Services, Inc.

Honoring Johnny as pallbearers are; Darrell Bean, Buddy Luce, Dylan Luce, Alan Gardner, George Westbrook, Dabo Hickman, Beth Johnson, and Todd Robinson.
