Men arrested in Raywood for marijuana possession

A traffic stop on US 90 at FM 770 in Raywood Wednesday evening by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit led to the arrest of two men.

According to Capt. Ken DeFoor, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, the deputy who initiated the traffic stop of a 2018 white Dodge pickup reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

The occupants were identified as Lonnie “Lynn” Fregia, 60, and Terry Brandon McClure, 41.

“Due to the odor of marijuana, the deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle. A large Walmart plastic bag was found underneath the ice in an ice chest. The plastic bag contained eight 1-ounce bags and one 8-ounce bag of marijuana that was packaged for resale. The total was approximately one pound,” DeFoor wrote in an emailed statement. “Lynn Fregia, who is the owner of the vehicle, immediately claimed ownership of the marijuana. Deputies then located multiple marijuana cigarettes hidden in the tool box located in the bed of the pickup.”

A small plastic bag containing marijuana reportedly was found inside McClure’s overnight luggage. Both subjects were arrested and transported to the Liberty County Jail.

They both are charged with Possession of Marijuana, a state jail felony.
