James D. (Don) Scruggs

James D. (Don) Scruggs, age 88, and longtime resident of Splendora, Texas, went to be with his Lord Saturday, August 11, 2018. Don was born October 15, 1929 in Center, TX, to Hamilton and Elizabeth (Lambright) Scruggs. He was the youngest of six children.
As a young man, Don moved to Houston and went work for IBEW Local Union 716 as an electrician. In 1957, he married Ann Reynolds Blackburn, and between them they had four children, followed by two of theirs together. He moved his family from Houston to Splendora in 1966. Don was a proud retired union member who loved his God, his family, camping hunting, and football.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, and 1 grandson, Jeremy McNeely. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Ann Scruggs; sons Jimmy Scruggs of Dallas, TX, Rocky Blackburn and Ricky Scruggs, both of Splendora, TX; daughters Donna Collins of Cleveland, TX, Cindy Fulcher and husband Robert, and Sue McNeely and husband Sammy, all of Splendora, TX; 15 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, along with many nephews and nieces and numerous friends. Visitation @ Neal Funeral Home on Thursday, August 16, 2018, @ 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral Services Friday, August 17, 2018, at 2 p.m. Burial to follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Rest Gardens, Cleveland, Texas. Services officiated by Reggie McNeely.
