Liberty and Dayton police will be comparing notes in two separate aggravated robberies of the Sonic Drive-Ins in the sister cities to see if the same suspect, described as a black female, is responsible for both crimes.
On Friday, Aug. 24, around 10 a.m., Dayton police officers responded to a call regarding the aggravated robbery of a carhop at the Dayton Sonic Drive-In, located at 207 W U.S. 90, just east of Cleveland St.
Capt. John Coleman, spokesperson for Dayton PD, says that the suspect in the crime brandished a handgun as she demanded cash from a carhop. By the time police arrived a few minutes later, the suspect had fled the scene.

Around 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, Liberty Police Department responded to an incident at the Sonic Drive-in at 1821 U.S. 90. The suspect in that case demanded cash from a carhop and then fled the scene.
Neither carhop was seriously injured, though Chief Thomas Claunch said the victim in the Liberty case suffered a few minor cuts and scrapes.
Dayton police are reviewing surveillance tape from the incident in Dayton. Capt. Coleman said the video quality is “good,” and they hope to develop leads from it.
Coleman plans to release a screen-capture of the suspect on Tuesday. Once the photo is available, an update will be posted on http://www.BluebonnetNews.com. Check back Tuesday afternoon for updates.
