Suspect arrested in aggravated robberies in Dayton, Liberty

Liberty police officers discuss an aggravated robbery at the Sonic Drive-In Monday night.

Liberty Police Chief Thomas Claunch is confirming that a black female suspect is in custody at this time, suspected of Monday night’s aggravated robbery at the Sonic Drive-In, located at 1821 US 90, in Liberty.

The suspect was apprehended in Dayton Monday night after officers from multiple agencies responded to Liberty PD’s radio broadcast to be on the lookout for a westbound black Kia Soul.

The suspect, who is unnamed until formal charges are filed, is currently being held on unrelated warrants while the case is being investigated.

“It is believed that this subject also committed a similar crime is Dayton, last Friday and perhaps another in Harris County,” Claunch wrote in his statement to the media.

On Friday, a black female committed an aggravated robbery of the Sonic Drive-In in Dayton. The suspect reportedly brandished a firearm during that crime, according to Capt. John Coleman, spokesperson for Dayton Police Department.

The suspect in that case matches the description of the person in custody with Liberty Police Department.

The car hop in Liberty, who reportedly was robbed at knifepoint Monday, suffered some lacerations to her hand and was taken to Liberty-Dayton Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect is facing aggravated robbery charges in Liberty and Dayton.
