Sherrie Lynn Grimes

Sherrie Lynn Grimes, 70 of Dayton, Texas passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on November 5, 2018. She was born on June 8, 1948 in Houston, Texas. Sherrie was the daughter of the late E.D. Alexander and Mary Parham. She graduated from Milby High School in 1966.

Sherrie loved to work around cattle and on the ranch. She also enjoyed fishing. Sherrie was strong willed, very compassionate, outgoing, fun loving, and she loved watching her grandchildren as well as being involved in their lives. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sherrie was preceded in death by her parents, brother; Edward Alexander and sister; Glenda Guthier.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memories her loving husband of 27 years, Harry Randy Grimes; sons, Casey and wife Cristina Kimball of Fairfield, Texas, Clay and wife Christy Jo Kimball of Teague, Texas; daughter, Jeanna and husband Burt Bure of Fulshear, Texas, grandchildren, Brooke, Taylor, Samantha, Hunter, Kayla, Kade and Kaston; brother, Bill Alexander; sisters-in-law, Jean Alexander and Chirlene Alexander; and a host of many other family members and friends.

Before creating Bluebonnet News in 2018, Vanesa Brashier was a community editor for the Houston Chronicle/Houston Community Newspapers. During part of her 12 years at the newspapers, she was assigned as the digital editor and managing editor for the Humble Observer, Kingwood Observer, East Montgomery County Observer and the Lake Houston Observer, and the editor of the Dayton News, Cleveland Advocate and Eastex Advocate. Over the years, she has earned more than two dozen writing awards, including Journalist of the Year.
