Barney Eugene Carnes

Barney Eugene Carnes, age 87 of Cleveland, Texas, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018. He was born January 25, 1931 in Cleveland, Texas to parents A.V. and Irma Ramsey Carnes who preceded him in death along with his wife, Betty Sue Carnes; brothers, Charles Ramsey Carnes and John Nelson Carnes; sister, Dorothy Mathis; and niece Tara Lynn Mathis.

Barney was a life-long resident of Cleveland and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a rancher and loved playing with his cows as well as hanging out with his buddies at the coffee shop.

Survivors include his daughters, Tammy Hughes and Hope Hughes; sister, Irma Ruth Carnes Bean and husband Hobert; grandchild, Jonathan Hughes; nephews, Gregory Mathis, Monte Carnes and wife Debbi, and Marty Carnes and wife Kristie; 4 great-nephews and 1 great-great-niece; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m, Monday, December 17, 2018 at Pace Stancil Funeral Home, Cleveland, Texas. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Pace Stancil Chapel, Cleveland, Texas officiated by Bro. Carl Williamson. Interment will follow at Morgan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas.
