New Year’s revelry leads to one arrest in Splendora

Police detained roughly a dozen men at a property on Brice Lane in Splendora just after midnight New Year's Day. One was arrested on a Deadly Conduct charge.

A group celebrating the New Year by firing rifles and guns led to one man being arrested for Deadly Conduct, according to Sgt. James “Troy” Teller, spokesperson for Splendora Police Department.

Around midnight, police were called to a property on Brice Lane where a dozen men with firearms were discharging them into a pond, Teller said.

Upon arrival, Teller and Officer Jones, who were the first to arrive on the scene, heard gunshots. When police approached the house, several men reportedly ran into a stable, where they were located and detained.

Because of the number of suspects, assistance was requested from the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office, Roman Forest Police Department, Patton Village Police Department, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Several guns were confiscated but only one person was arrested, Teller said.
