Richard Edward Cox, Sr.

Richard Edward Cox, Sr., 75 of Dayton passed away December 17, 2018. He was born September 28, 1943 in Liberty, Texas to parents Edward Cox, Jr. and Ruby Lee Cox.

Graveside services for Mr. Cox will be 2:30 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2018 at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Cox, Rob Flurry, Robert Hennis, Ernest Butcher, Norris Wayne Cox and Leonard Shipman.

Mr. Cox was a longtime resident of Dayton. He enjoyed westerns especially the rifleman. He was an avid hunter and liked doing mechanic work. Richard he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and talking about the old days and tracing family history.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary L. Cox; his brothers, Clifford Lee Cox and John David Cox; and his sister, Dorothea Simmons. Richard is survived by his children, Katherine Cox, Richard Cox, II and David Cox and wife Amanda; grandchildren, Christopher L. Cox and wife Mallory and Matthew Gavin Cox; great-grandchild, Malachi Cox; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
