An 18-year-old Raywood man, Patrick Jesse Fontenot, reportedly evaded law enforcement Wednesday evening south of Hardin and was arrested Thursday morning in Liberty on a theft charge.
According to Lt. Chip Fairchild, spokesperson for Liberty Police Department, Fontenot’s arrest occurred around 5:30 a.m. Thursday after he reportedly tried to steal drinks and food at the Stripes store located at 2130 SH 146 in Liberty.
“He was muddy and scratched up after evading police Wednesday evening,” Fairchild said.
Liberty Police Department has charged Fontenot with Theft and the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is anticipated to pursue a charge of Evading Arrest or Detention, according to Fairchild.
Fontenot remains at the Liberty County Jail as of Thursday. He will go before a judge where bond will be set.
