Liberty County Pct. 2 Constable Chris Dryer (left) accepts a check for $1,414 from Robby Koon with Bailey's BBQ. The Cleveland-based restaurant partnered with Fran Collins, owner of CD Tire and Auto, to host a fundraiser to help Dryer with medical expenses.

A check for $1,414 was delivered to Liberty County Pct. 2 Deputy Constable Chris Dryer on Wednesday, the proceeds of a Jan. 30 fundraiser organized by two Cleveland-based businesses.

Dryer is battling ulcerative colitis and has undergone one surgery to remove his colon and cancer cells. He faces two more surgeries to restore his colon function in the coming months.

The fundraiser was organized by Bailey’s BBQ owners Robby and Cindy Koon, and CD Auto and Tire owner Fran Collins. The funds were raised by food purchases made at the restaurant and then matched by the automotive business.
