Billy Don Rich

Billy Don Rich, 74, of Liberty, Texas passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Liberty. Billy Don was born on October 19, 1944 to John Hollis Rich and Lola Estelle Worthy in Liberty.

Billy served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He was very proud of his service and we are grateful for his sacrifice. After the service, Billy Don became a rice farmer in Liberty with his father and grandfather. After he left farming, he became a home builder before retiring. Billy Don was a good ole’ Texan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and country music. He loved his vegetable garden and his cattle. He liked to country western dance. Billy Don attended high school in Liberty, class of 1963.

Billy Don was preceded in death by his parents; loving and devoted wife of forty-four years, Sandra Gilliand Rich; brother David Wayne Rich; sisters Brenda Faye Elkins and Judy Carol Wright. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter Julie Pruett and husband Darell of Liberty; son John Rich and wife Nicole of Tomball; grandchildren Logan Rich, Landon Rich, Luke Rich, Wilson Pruett,  Lane Rich; and special friend Wanda Berry. In addition he leaves behind numerous other loving relatives and friends.

Honoring the family by serving as pallbearers are Logan Rich, Landon Rich, Luke Rich, Blaine Rich, Jud Maxwell and Hayze Fisher. Honorary pallbearers are Lane Rich and Wilson Pruett. Officiating is Gideon Watson of Hardin United Methodist Church.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5pm – 8pm on Monday, March 11, 2019 in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty, Texas 77575. A graveside service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Worthy cemetery in Liberty.
