Mattie Marie Shurtleff

Mattie Marie Shurtleff, 86, of Huffman passed away April 16, 2019 in Livingston. Marie was born January 16, 1933 in Magnolia, Texas to parents J.O. Dennis and Mattie Lou Free Dennis.

Services for Mrs. Shurtleff will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the Cypress Point Baptist Church in Huffman with Pastor Alfred Smith officiating. Interment will follow at San Jacinto Memorial Park under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. at Cypress Point Baptist Church before the service on Saturday. Serving as pallbearers will be Jeff Coleman, Lee Coleman, Cameron Coleman, Cade Coleman, Andy Jung, and Keith Haws

Marie lived in the Huffman area since 1964 and previously lived in North Shore. She was a longtime member of the Cypress Point Baptist Church where she was a children’s Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed playing bingo, dominos, hunting and singing. Marie loved her family and cherished her time with them.

Mrs. Shurtleff was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Tommy Shurtleff, her son, Lyn Shurtleff and brother Johnnie Dennis. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Lambeth and husband John; grandchildren, Jeff Coleman and wife Christie, Lee Coleman and wife Jessica, and Angel Jung and husband Andy; great-grandchildren, Cameron Coleman, Cade Coleman, Asa Coleman, Mason Jung, Abby Jung, and Anna Jung; sister, Hazel Williams and husband Nathan; sister-in-law, Lula Shurtleff; also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
