Liberty County returns for May 4 elections

Voting boxes are in at the Liberty County Courthouse, where County Clerk Lee Haidusek, in her first year of office, was busy Saturday monitoring the county’s new election equipment from Hart Civicgenics.

Haidusek said the new voting machines operated as expected with the only problems arising from voters who were purged in February from the voting registrar by the Secretary of State’s office, which oversees elections in Texas.

“We had one guy who was showing on the voting list as dead,” said Haidusek, adding that he was allowed to vote once his identity was confirmed.
