Thirty runners turned out Saturday for the inaugural May the Fourth Be With You 5K Run in Cleveland, hosted by A Hug From Above, Inc., a non-profit started by Wendy Medina to honor the loss of her 3-month-old son, Jaxon, and to bring together other families who have suffered similar losses.

The 5K Run was organized by the Junior Committee for A Hug From Above, Inc., and benefits local scholarships and projects the organization is planning, including the distribution of quilts to parents who have lost a child.

The first quilt will include the 26 names of children who were lost to the organization’s members. Along with each child’s name will be Bible verses that encourage strength. The group plans to deliver the first quilt this Saturday to a local mother who recently suffered a loss.

The winners of the 5K run, which began and ended at El Burrito Restaurant in Cleveland, were first place-Adrian Sanchez, second place-Danny Stutts and third place-Fancy Yancey.

Medina is looking for youths to serve on the junior committee for A Hug From Above, Inc. Anyone with an interest should contact her at https://ahugfromabove.org/contact-us
