Mary Lou Shannon

Mary Lou Shannon, 87, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on June 5, 2019, in Hull, Texas. She entered this world on September 25, 1931, in Mont Belvieu, Texas. She lived in Hull since 1956 and was a member of First Baptist Church of Hull.

Mary was an entrepreneur by heart, gladly doing and fulfilling her labors of love. She was a member of the Daughters of The Republic of Texas, Franklin Hardin Chapter, the San Jacinto Descendants, a charter member of East Liberty County Historical Society, a member of East Liberty County Chamber of Commerce and Co-founder of the Hull-Daisetta Mayhaw Festival.

Mary was born to William Burr Rayburn and Mamie Dea Bass. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Arthur Shannon, grandson, Michael Gary Shannon II, great-grandson, Calgary Lee Faircloth, great-granddaughter, Ivy Machelle Shannon, and great-great-granddaughter Aizley Grace Shannon.

She is survived by her sons, Eugene Shannon and fiancé Linda Taylor of Liberty and Michael Shannon and wife Glenda of Hull, her daughters, Patti Atkins and husband David Chandler of Hull and Debbi Vaughn of Hull, her life-assistant and close friend Evelyn Redfearn, her sisters, Margaret Measles of Madisonville and Carrol Hudspeth of Thicket.

Grandchildren are Gene Shannon of Victoria, Pamela Cox of Grand Junction, Colorado, Glenda Mitschke of Giddings, Texas; Callie Murphy Kelly of Mandeville Louisiana, Shannon Faircloth of Hunt, Texas, Jodi Hester of Hull, and Mark Vaughn, Jr. of Tyler. She had 22 great-grandchildren and 2 and great-great-grandchildren.

A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 2:00 P.M. at Faith & Family Funeral Services Inc. in Batson, Reverend Kitty Key officiating. Interment will follow at Moss Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Doug Rayburn, Larry Rayburn, Gene Shannon, Chuck Marberry, Jerry Rayburn, Marshall Rayburn, Chip Measles and Randy Measles.
