She was the youngest of three girls, making her the “son” her dad never had. She shared his passion for horses and the love of being outdoors.

Although she moved to Baytown, Texas when she was 3 years old, she remained a self-proclaimed “Coon-Ass” at heart. She loved to listen to Cajun music. Doris was a strong woman, who was not afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce Mama Bear, who loved her family unconditionally and was deeply loved by them.

In 1977, Doris was a founding member of the Hankamer Volunteer Fire Department. She responded to many emergency calls and even helped put out many fires. Doris was a member of the Chambers County Deputy Reserves for many years. She also volunteered and rode with Anahuac EMS. For many years, Doris wrote a community column for The Anahuac Progress newspaper. She was very active in the community and attended the commissioner’s court regularly. Doris even coached both of her son’s little league baseball teams and was a Girl Scout troop leader for both of her daughters. She never met a stranger and would talk with you for hours, even if she just met you. Doris retired from Exxon-Mobile in 2004 but continued to be active in raising her grandkids and bowling.
