Space Center Houston coming to Liberty Library June 27

Space Center Houston is coming to Liberty on Thursday, June 27, to entertain readers in the Liberty Municipal Library’s Summer Reading Program. The program, “Yes, It is Rocket Science,” will take place in the Humphreys-Burson Theatre beginning at 2 p.m.

“Yes, It is Rocket Science” is at 45-minute presentation that is suitable for viewers from kindergarten to adults, and they’ll find out how rockets work and what it takes to launch them into space.

The Liberty Library’s summer reading program is in full swing and there is no cost to participate in the program, which is open to all area children, from babies to sixth graders. Each child must have a library card and cards are free to Texas residents.

After children have read books checked out from the Liberty Library, parents will be given a reading log for each child to take home to record the title of each book read. Children will receive weekly incentive prizes for reading the required number of books: ten for children up to second grade, and three for third through sixth graders. Booklets must be turned in by July 20 so that the library staff can prepare certificates and goodie bags for each participating child..

The Liberty Municipal Library is located at 1710 Sam Houston Street in Liberty, inside the Geraldine D. Humphreys Cultural Center.
