Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed legislation, authored by himself, to rename the Post Office in Hardin, Texas after Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lucas Maurice Lowe who tragically lost his life during a Texas National Guard training flight just after Christmas in 2016.
“Lucas was a hard-working man who loved being in the service, and especially loved to fly,” said Babin. “When the world lost Lucas, we lost more than a dedicated patriot. We lost a man who always went out of his way to help lift others’ spirits and encouraged them to reach for higher success in life.
“Admired by all, Lowe’s courage and dedication made him a natural born leader. He touched the lives of all who knew him, and lived his life with an optimistic spirit, always ready to take on the next big challenge. He will be dearly missed throughout the Texas Guard, the entire Hardin community, and by those family and friends he leaves behind.
“It was an absolute privilege to sponsor this bill that honors a true American hero like Lucas, and I am extremely proud that H.R. 1250 is now on its way to the U.S. Senate.”
H.R. 1250 was cosponsored by all 36 members of the Texas Congressional Delegation, and now goes on to the United States Senate for consideration where Congressman Babin expects it to pass and be sent to President Donald Trump to be signed into law.
