Congressman Brian Babin (TX-36) issued the following statement in response to his legislation to rename the Hardin Post Office after Lucas Maurice Lowe passing the U.S. Senate.
“I’m tremendously proud and honored to have led the effort to rename the Hardin Post Office after a true American hero – Lucas Lowe,” said Rep. Babin. “It brings me great joy knowing that Lucas’ memory will be cemented in history forever, and I pray all who pass by or walk through the doors of the soon-to-be Lucas Lowe Memorial Post Office will be inspired to live as he did. I’d like to thank Senators Cornyn and Cruz for their efforts to ensure that this bill was brought to the floor of the Senate quickly. H.R. 1250 will now be sent to the President’s desk to be signed into law.”
Other Texas leaders weighed in on the bill afterward.
“Renaming the post office is a fitting tribute to the memory and sacrifice of Lucas Lowe, who gave his all to his family, his community, and his nation,” said Sen. Cornyn. “This honor will reflect Hardin’s culture of gratitude for those who have worn the uniform and will inspire future generations of Hardin residents.”
“I applaud the passage of the Lucas Lowe Post Office bill by my colleagues in the Senate,” Sen. Cruz said. “I am proud to support legislation that honors the sacrifice and legacy of Lucas Lowe, a patriot and Texan whose service to his country inspires us all.”
