Wanted sex offender charged with drug possession in Cleveland

A routine patrol by Cleveland Police Officer Jeffery Arnett on Wednesday, Aug. 28, on the 600 block of N. Franklin resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Troy Lynn Davis on drug charges and for failing to comply with the restrictions placed on sex offenders.

An arrest warrant for Davis had recently been obtained by the Cleveland Police Department on a charge of Failure to Comply with Official Duty to Register/Sex Offender, according to a statement from Cleveland Police Department.

“Officer Arnett stopped his patrol unit and met with Davis.  Upon confirming Davis’ identity, Officer Arnett placed Davis in custody for the active arrest warrant.  After securing Davis in the rear of Officer Arnett’s patrol unit, Officer Arnett began an inventory of the backpack Davis was carrying.  While inventorying the backpack, Officer Arnett discovered numerous clear plastic baggies containing marijuana and a clear plastic baggy containing crack cocaine,” the statement continues.

Davis was transported to the Cleveland Police Department Jail where he was booked in for the following charges: Failure to Comply Sex Offender Duty to Register Life/Annual and Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 – Less than 4 grams, both third-degree felonies, and Possession of Marijuana, less than 2 ounces (Class B Misdemeanor).
