School closings for Friday

With flooding conditions continuing, several local school districts have already made the decision to cancel school and extracurricular activities for Friday, Sept. 20. The districts that have announced closures include Cleveland, Dayton, Liberty, Hardin, Tarkington and Splendora.

Friday was already expected to be a student holiday for Dayton ISD students, but now all activities for staff have been canceled as well as many staff and students are dealing with flooding in their homes and neighborhoods.

Tarkington’s homecoming activities have been rescheduled for the week of Nov. 1 and all extracurricular activities for the district are canceled through the weekend.

At this time, information for Hull-Daisetta, Devers and Shepherd ISDs has not been announced on social media or the districts’ websites. As soon as more information is available, an update will be posted.
