Texas Elite Hospice, Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Bluebonnet News and KORG 95.3 FM hosted two luncheons last week in honor of first responders to thank them for their service to the community.
An estimated 150 first responders attended the luncheon held at the Liberty Center in Liberty on Tuesday with another 50 attending the luncheon at the Stancil Park log cabin in Cleveland on Wednesday.
First responders also vied for prizes donated by Trinity Armory of Cleveland, Allison Funeral Home, Attorney Donny Haltom, State Rep. Ernest Bailes and artist Joyce Odegard.
This year’s luncheon marked the second year for the luncheons. Last year the luncheon was held in Cleveland but organizers split the luncheons into two days and two cities to broaden the potential for first responders in the north and south parts of the county to attend.
The luncheons are scheduled to coincide with September, which is recognized across the nation as First Responders Appreciation Month.
