OCT. 15

  • The Liberty Community Development Corporation will meet at 6 p.m. at Liberty City Council Chambers inside City Hall, 1829 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty.

OCT. 16

  • The City of Cleveland is holding a special-called public hearing on amendment to projects for the current fiscal year. The meeting starts at 5:15 p.m. in Cleveland City Council Chambers inside City Hall, 907 E. Houston St., Cleveland.

OCT. 17

  • Liberty County Commissioners Court will host a workshop at 1:30 p.m. inside the Liberty County Law Library, 1811 Trinity St., Liberty.

OCT. 22

  • Cleveland City Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month. However, October’s meeting is scheduled for the fourth Tuesday due to a conference in October. Meetings start at 6 p.m. and are held at Cleveland City Council Chambers inside City Hall, 907 E. Houston St., Cleveland.
  • Liberty County Commissioners Court meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Meetings typically begin at 9 a.m. inside Liberty County Court at Law No. 1 inside the Liberty County Courthouse.

OCT. 17

  • Have coffee with Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at City of Liberty Council Chambers, 1829 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty.

OCT. 18

  • Cleveland Senior Citizens Center is hosting a barbecue fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. at the senior citizens center, 220 Peach Ave., Cleveland. The cost is $10 per plate, which includes barbecue with all the trimmings. There will be a bake sale auction, games, and live and silent auctions. All proceeds go toward Meals on Wheels programs.

OCT. 19-20

  • Harvest Market – A monthly indoor, climate-controlled market with 6,000 square feet of indoor vendors. Harvest Market will also take place on Nov. 16-17 and Dec. 7-8. Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free entry and parking. Harvest Market is held at Harvest Event Center, 9775 SH 146, Liberty (Hardin). On Saturday, Oct. 19, there will be a pumpkin decorating contest for four age groups: 4-7, 8-11, 12-16, and 17 and up, and a bake-off of cakes, cookies and pies in three age groups: 7-11, 12-16, and 17 and up.   • Dayton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a job and health fair from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center, 801 S. Cleveland St., Dayton. At this event, the community will find out local businesses that are looking to hire or are building their candidate files.
  • Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting for Cricket Wireless at 10 a.m. The location is 2309 N. Main St., Liberty.

OCT. 23

  • The Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly membership luncheon from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Liberty Center inside Liberty City Hall. The guest speaker will be Texas Game Warden Lauren Iles and the meal will be catered by Chicken Express of Dayton. The cost is $12 per person. Registration is required by Monday, Oct. 21.

OCT. 24

  • Cleveland Connections Networking Luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pueblo Viejo Restaurant. The cost is $10, which includes the meal, drink and tax. Please tip your wait staff after the meal. This is an opportunity to network with other business-minded people in the community in a fun, friendly atmosphere.   • Trick-or-treating on the San Jacinto County Town Square – Coldspring Area Business and Merchants Association is hosting this free event for children from 3 to 5 p.m.

OCT. 26

  • The Cleveland Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for East Street Florist, 125 N. San Jacinto Ave., Cleveland, at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be served.
  • Doggie Costume Contest – Coldspring Area Business and Merchants Association is hosting a Doggie Costume Contest at 1 p.m. on the San Jacinto County Courthouse Square. A scavenger hunt grand prize winner and runner-up will be announced as well.
  • Spooktacular Treat Street is a free trick-or-treating event being held from 2 to 5 p.m. on N. Church St. in Dayton. Admission is free. Come in costume and enjoy games, treats and fun.

OCT. 31

  • Treat Street, an annual free trick-or-treating event hosted by the Unity Committee of Cleveland and the City of Cleveland, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stancil Exposition Center, 210 Peach Ave. Trick-or-treaters should be 12 and younger.   • Dayton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for Kathryn Sharp, CPA, from 1:30 to 2 p.m., at 104 W. Clayton St., Dayton.
  • Great Pumpkin Bash is a free family event hosted by the Liberty Municipal Library. It will take place this year from 4 to 5 p.m. inside the foyer of the Geraldine D. Humpheys Cultural Center, 1710 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty. There will be games, crafts, music, snacks and drinks. Children are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes.   • Rock-N-Ride, a 50-mile scenic bike ride that is followed by a rock concert and food, will begin at 7 a.m.  Music will begin at 10 a.m. at Stancil Exposition Center, 210 Peach Ave., Cleveland. For more information, call the Chamber at 281-592-8786.

NOV. 14

  • Deadline to order brine-cured smoked turkeys from the Liberty Masonic Lodge just in time for Thanksgiving. The turkeys must be picked up on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. They will take more than 45 hours to complete a perfect brine-cured smoked turkey. A turkey that has been brined and cured before smoking creates that extra touch that retains its moisture and makes it more juicy and flavorful. Each turkey is $45 and all proceeds benefit student scholarships. The Masonic Lodge is located at 500 Fannin St., Liberty.
