Country Christmas comes to Liberty

Dancers with Ballet Folklorico of Dayton perform in the Country Christmas Parade in Liberty on Dec. 3, 2019.

Hundreds of people turned out Tuesday in downtown Liberty for this year’s Country Christmas hosted by the City of Liberty and the Liberty-Dayton Chamber of Commerce.

The event kicked off with a lighted parade down Travis St. and Sam Houston Ave., passing by the Liberty Courthouse and Liberty City Hall. After the parade, family-friendly activities, including moon walks, pony rides, train and carriage rides, and face painting, took place on the grounds of Liberty City Hall and inside the Liberty Center.

If you missed the event, there are two other opportunities this week to see a lighted Christmas parade in Liberty County. On Saturday, the cities of Dayton and Cleveland will hold lighted Christmas parades. Cleveland’s parade begins at 6 p.m. on the 100 block of E. Houston next to the Texan Theater, and Dayton’s will be held at 7 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center.
