Woman murdered in Cleveland

A 30-year-old woman was killed around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Lyle West in Cleveland. According to Capt. Scott Felts, spokesperson for Cleveland Police Department, the woman was found lying in the front yard of a property with several gunshot wounds to her abdomen.

The Hispanic female was transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Emergency Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

“Cleveland PD Officers and Detectives are actively working the homicide scene.  The residence and surrounding area are being treated as an active crime scene as evidence is being gathered.  The motive for the shooting is undetermined as of this time,” said Felts.

Investigators are asking citizens living in this area of the shooting to review any video recordings they may have regarding this time frame. 

“Someone may have the suspects or relevant activity on their security cameras and not realize it.  Anyone discovering suspicious activity is asked to contact investigators,” he said.

Cleveland Police Department is currently being assisted by the Texas Rangers, Liberty County Sheriff’s Department and the Liberty County District Attorney’s Office.
