Cleveland ISD hires new athletic director

Cleveland ISD’s board of trustees held a special-called meeting on Jan. 9 to approve the hiring of a new athletic director, Jason Fiacco.

“We are pleased to announce that Jason Fiacco was named to this position,” a statement from the school district reads.

Fiacco previously served as athletic director and head football coach at Elkhart ISD. He is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor degree in Exercise Science.

Fiacco previously worked at Yoakum High School as offensive coordinator, Hartford High School as head football coach and La Vernia High School and Ellsworth Community College as offensive line coach.

Fiacco was a standout high school and collegiate athlete. His love for sports and dedication to excellence was formed during his 15 years of experience as a competitor. He is a former Wisconsin All-State offensive lineman for Arrowhead High School where he attended and played in two Wisconsin D1 State Championship games.

Fiacco represented the United States in national powerlifting competitions in Asia and Latin America. He then attended the University of Northern Iowa where he was a four-year letter winner in football.

Following his collegiate career, Fiacco received an invitation to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie camp. He finished his playing career with a season in Europe where he played professionally for the Prague Panthers (EFL).

“Fiacco is a winning coach but he also is a family man with character who promotes a strong team concept through leading by example,” the district statement continues. “He hopes to instill character, loyalty, teamwork, pride and a winning attitude to the students at Cleveland ISD.”

Fiacco is married to his wife, Sarah, who is a stay-at-home mom to their children, Colt, Callie and Casey. He and his family look forward to becoming residents of Cleveland ISD.
