UPDATE: Liberty County Office of Emergency Management sent out an email Wednesday afternoon to say that one of the COVID-19 victims in Liberty County has passed away as a result of her illness. She was in her 80-90s. She was one of the previous cases.
Liberty County is reporting three new cases of COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus. The brings the total number of cases for Liberty County to 23.
The new cases are all in South Liberty County. Two are males, between the ages of 70-80, and one is a female, 60-70. All three are experiencing mild symptoms and are isolating at home.
The Texas Department of State Health Services is supporting Liberty County in identifying any close contacts of the patient while he was sick, so they can be isolated and monitored for symptoms and quickly tested, if needed.
These are things everyone can do to help prevent the spread of COVID-19:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then wash your hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Minimizing exposure is especially important for people who are 65 or older, or who have an underlying health condition like heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or cancer. People in those groups have a higher risk of developing severe disease if they do get COVID-19, and the safest thing for them during an outbreak will be to stay home as much as possible and minimize close contact with other people.
To get ready, they should talk to their doctor about getting additional prescription medications and have enough household items and groceries on hand to stay home as needed.
Wish they would tell what part of South Liberty County this is around! Would be nice if they could tell us if any of the cases has been to Hylton’s store or the Dollar Mart on 563
I agree with you also about the location of sick people ,but I guess it doesn’t matter to them so they won’t tell more it is LIBERTY COUNTY you no and as sad as it ever was I wish I’d never settled in this county way back when.but I did anyways maybe if they see these feed backs they may get more info out to us so that we can try to stay well .
They’re to busy eating at What A Burger.
Stay in and stay protected. They have to eat like we do, so pray for our Officials. They are working hard to prevent more infections. We must do our part. These people put theirselves in danger for us. We don’t see where they go every moment. We need more prayer warriors to pray to our Heavenly Father to remove this virus and cast it into outer darkness and never to return in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Jesus loves you and it will get better. The Love of Jesus to you all.
