A 34-year-old Liberty man, Thomas James Lawson, is facing multiple drug charges after his arrest on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at his home on the 1600 block of Lynch Avenue in Liberty.

According to a statement from Capt. David Meyers, a spokesperson for the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Lawson was under investigation by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit with the assistance of a Texas Department of Public Safety narcotics investigator. Information reportedly was given to investigators about a subject identified as “TJ” who was distributing methamphetamines from the home.

During the execution of a search warrant on Lawson’s home, investigators allegedly recovered approximately 988 grams of crystal meth, 151 grams of Adderall packaged for resale, 56 grams of Xanax, seven ounces of marijuana, $2,000 in U.S. currency, and a handgun.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office provided this image of items reportedly seized from the home of Thomas James Lawson.

Lawson was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.

“Due to the residence being located within 1000 feet of an elementary school and in a drug-free zone, all charges may be enhanced,” Meyers reported.

Lawson’s bonds on all four charges totaled $150,000.

Sheriff Rader commended the Narcotics Unit for another outstanding job from a tip that they received about drug activities, Meyers added.

“If you have any information on illegal activity occurring in Liberty County to call the Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-392-STOP (7867). All callers will remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward,” Meyers said.
