Steve Edmonds

Steve Edmonds, resident of Iowa, Louisiana, fought hard before ultimately succumbing to cancer. He received care in Baytown and passed peacefully on February 7, 2024. Steve was born to Barbara and William “Butsy” Edmonds on December 16, 1955, in Anahuac, Texas. He could always be seen working in the rice field or maintaining farm equipment at the shop.

Steve was very accomplished in his mechanical skills and could revive farm equipment, even those tractors sent to Butsy’s farm equipment cemetery. He was known for his dry sense of humor and his generosity, especially for those less fortunate. Steve spent years working offshore and was often complimented for his mechanical aptitude and culinary skills. He had an innate ability to learn languages; he was fluent in Spanish and could converse fluently in Cajun French, which came in handy while living in Louisiana. Steve immersed himself in the Venezuelan culture while working for an offshore oil company there. Upon his return from Venezuela, he worked offshore until health issues forced him to retire.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill. Family members left to cherish his memory include daughter Keely Edmonds and three granddaughters (Vivian, Indy, and Mia Rollo) of Austin and his son, Chase Edmonds of Houston.  Steve is also survived by his sisters Patti McCormick of San Diego and Diane Tunze of Anahuac.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 3pm until 4:30pm, on Monday, February 12, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 1201 S. Main Street in Anahuac. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow in Anahuac Cemetery in Anahuac.
