
John “Stormy” Calvin Vaughn, IV, 78, of Dayton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Beaumont, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 14, 1946, in Liberty, Texas, to the late Cecile Brooks and John Calvin Vaughn, III.
Stormy graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. He received his degree in accounting, making a career as a business owner doing what he loved for others. Stormy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
Stormy pursued many interests, some of which included playing golf, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed gardening, yardwork and woodworking. Stormy was a talented musician with the ability to play the banjo and the guitar. He was extremely family oriented, finding his greatest joy came from spending time with his precious grandchildren. Stormy was naturally funny and could light up a room with his presence. He loved giving to others and often looked for ways to do so. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stormy was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved wife of twenty-eight years Sandra Lynne Carter Vaughn. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his sons David Vaughn and wife Tiffany of Dayton, Kevin Vaughn of Dayton and Kenny Vaughn of Dayton; his stepchildren Stephen Floyd and wife Elaine of Richmond, Kim Pickett and husband Steve of San Antonio, and Jeremy Provost and wife Jenny Tran of Oman; his twenty-one grandchildren; his fourteen great-grandchildren; his sister Vicki Coker and husband Gary of Livingston; his numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service honoring Stormy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in the chapel of Sterling Funeral Home, 602 N. Main Street, Dayton, Texas 77535, with Bro. Jeff Day officiating.
