Liberty Library pardoning overdue book fines for one week, April 7-13

April 7-13 is National Library Week

National Library Week is an annual event that emphasizes the importance libraries and library staff have within their communities.  It highlights the focus on growing readership and the library’s vision of creating a lifelong love of reading.  In celebration of this year’s National Library Week, April 7-13, the Liberty Municipal Library will be holding a fine forgiveness week.

“Bring in your overdue items or return them in the Liberty Municipal Library book drops during the week of April 7-13 and we will clear all your overdue fines! Yes – even those materials that have been out for decades! Fine removal applies to all library materials including books, magazines, DVDs/Blu-rays, and audio books,” according to a statement from the Library.

Library items must be returned to the library for fines to be removed. Fine forgiveness does not include costs for damaged materials or postage fees. Fines will only be forgiven for Liberty Municipal Library materials.

Summer reading participants and caregivers, this is the perfect time to clear your card before the summer reading program starts.

Orbit is preparing to launch the library back into the swing of its summer reading program on Thursday, June 13, in the Liberty Center at 2:30 p.m.  The popular magician, John O’Bryant, will once again dazzle with a show on Friday, July 19, at 2:30 p.m. Summer reading will conclude with Big Time Bubbles on Thursday, July 25, at 10 a.m.  Let’s not forget, snow cones with Liberty Fire and Police Departments on Thursday, June 20, at 2:30 p.m. and Craft Day on Thursday, June 27, at 2:30 p.m. 

The library is excited to have a new addition to its entertainment programs this year.  Wild Things Zoofari, where the library brings the zoo to you.  The library welcomes everyone to come to the library on Thursday, July 11, at 2:30 p.m. to see and learn about 6 visiting animals.  The library is looking forward to this year’s theme, “Adventure Begins at Your Library.”  Don’t forget to join the library next summer 2024 for the adventure awaiting you at the library.

Don’t have a library card? New patron library cards are available free of charge to all Texas residents with a valid driver’s license or ID.
