In a twist of fate fitting for April Fool’s Day, an alleged robber’s plans were thwarted when he found himself trapped inside the store he intended to target.
The incident unfolded just before midnight at the Hardin Chevron station, located at the crossroads of FM 834 and SH 146 in Hardin.
According to authorities, the unexpected turn of events occurred when the would-be robber was outmaneuvered by the store clerk, who managed to lock the entrance, effectively confining the suspect within the store.

Minutes later, Liberty County sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene and took the white male into custody.
While being transferred into a police cruiser for the short trip to the Liberty County Jail, the suspect could be seen still wearing a black mask that he allegedly wore during the robbery attempt.
The suspect is identified as Landon Mase Rhodes, 19, of Liberty, and he has been charged with Robbery. Bond has not been set at this time.
Rhodes has previous arrests in the jail system for Theft of Property, Criminal Mischief, Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication.

I wish all places that appear easy to rob could have that kind of lock & a safe place for the workers to stay until the police arrive.
Maybe should have listened to country music ( Try that in a small town see how far you make it down the road)
