Splendora High School Senior Stephen Pavlat, II, has achieved a remarkable milestone by obtaining his Private Pilot License for Rotorcraft Helicopters. This accomplishment marks the beginning of his pursuit of further aviation qualifications, with the aim of becoming a Commercial Flight Instructor (CFI) and Commercial Flight Instrument Instructor (CFII) in the near future.
Stephen’s passion for aviation, particularly helicopters, has been a lifelong affair. A pivotal moment occurred at the tender age of 3 when he embarked on a thrilling helicopter ride in Corpus Christi, igniting a genuine love for the skies. His exposure to aviation was further enriched by his nomadic upbringing, which included a four-year stint in Udhailiyah, Saudi Arabia, and frequent travels around the globe.
His educational journey began at Piney Woods Elementary in Splendora and continued through various schools, both in the United States and abroad, with an unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Despite excelling as a versatile athlete, participating in football, basketball, and golf, Stephen chose to forgo competitive sports during his senior year to dedicate himself fully to his aviation dreams.

Transitioning seamlessly through different schools, Stephen’s dedication and passion for aviation shone through his decision to pursue further qualifications under the guidance of Veracity Aviation in Pearland, Texas. He is working diligently toward his instrument license and aims to complete this phase of his journey by the end of summer.
Even as he focused on aviation, Stephen’s commitment to extracurricular activities remained strong. His participation in the Clay Club, where he showcased his sharpshooting abilities at the state level, is a testament to his well-rounded nature.
In the coming months, Stephen Pavlat, II, anticipates reaching new heights in his aviation career, propelled by his unwavering dedication and love for the skies. His journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring young aviators, showcasing the significance of passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of dreams in achieving one’s aspirations.
Reflecting on his journey thus far, Stephen said, “Flying has pushed me beyond limits I did not think I would overcome. I do not regret the sacrifices I made to pursue my dream of flying.”
Proudly supporting Stephen’s achievements, his parents, Todd and Courtney Pavlat, express profound admiration for his unwavering dedication and character.
“This is a great time for Stephen. I am excited about all of the choices he has made to get to this point. Some of those choices meant he had to make hard sacrifices, which have helped him become such a respectable young man,” Todd Pavlat said, adding that he is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to learn under his son’s tutelage as he ascends to the role of a flight instructor.
Echoing her husband’s sentiments, Courtney Pavlat commended Stephen’s steadfastness in pursuing his dreams.
“From his dedication to his relationship with Christ, his family and friends, and always trying to be a better human by learning from his mistakes, I could not be more proud of him,” she said.

Congratulations! Not easy. We need more young men like this man.
